Cinescape! Shame!!

OK so todays announcment of the prayer break in a certain theatre for a certain time just tipped my rant-o-meter! I’ve had enough!!

Where did all this religoin come from?? You never thought religon when you played around with prices and manipulating people huh? You want to be saints now and cut movies for maghrib prayers? Why not afternoon prayers as well?!

If we WANT to be like saudi we will be .. but Cinescape guess what!? We dont want to be!! Are you closing down ticket sales and the food stands as well for 15 minutes?? Why not? Oh theyre not muslims they dont pray?? Then why did you think that all the people in the theatre will want a 15 minute prayer break?? Dont you think we have fucking minds and can tell the time?! Cant we see that if its prayer time we pray and book an earlier/later showing?! Instead of cutting movies why dont you rearrange timings so that they dont concide with prayer times? Oh you’ll lose money right?!

Lets forget your pathetic attempt to grab my attention .. your movies SUCK!! In capitals!!!

Let’s see this weekends movies:

– Resident Evil – Afterlife

– An Education

– Harry Brown

– Al-Dealer

Resident Evil was released a month ago in the USA .. not censored one bit .. and the viewers enjoyed watching the movie!!

An Education .. released a year ago! Again people watch it uncensored and at a fair price!

Harry Brown .. released November 2009!!

Al-Dealer .. WTF is that?? :S

So Cinescape, you charge us an average of 3KD per ticket .. you dont have student prices, child prices, teenager prices, afternoon/evening prices .. one fixed rate!! And yet you manage to supply us with mostly out dates movies that are butchered by the ministry of information!!

In 2009, the average price for a movie ticket in the United States was $7.50 – Wikipedia

You know why youre acting like that? Playing around and laughing at us? Cause you dont have a competitor!! Yeah! Well youre owned by a sheikh I guess we get why we dont have other cinema companies .. you know what Im gonna do?! Watch my movies online!! And if its  blockbuster movie that ive waited for a long long time?! I’ll fly over to Dubai! Watch the movie at a great price uncensored enjoyable! And get the fuck back to Kuwait!!

You just lost 4 customers .. thats 12 KD per week .. 624 KD per year!! I hope more people realise this and do the same! I’ll hold a party when I see you go bankrupt bitches!!

  1. Haha love your rant!!! Sorry they screwed your movie watching up!! And I can’t believe q8 is getting like ksa!! How longs this been going on? I left like 6 yrs ago, has it changed that much?! The fact that q8 wasn’t massively religious was why it was/is the best middle east country.
And fly to Dubai just to watch a film? That will only cost like 100x more, unless you’ve got a private jet to hand ??? But great idea lol!!
    Thanks for improving my evening!!

    • no they announced this today .. thus the rant 😛

LOL! i dont have a private jet but tickets are from 20 – 40 KD .. you watch a decent movie, have dinner some place new and come back! A change of routine! 🙂

      • Haha that is a pretty cool idea though… You should totally just do it once just to say you went to Dubai to watch a movie…and think, you get to see films on the plane too!!

      • Kuwaitis do that all the time! Do some shopping, watch a movie, grab a bite and head back to Kuwait at night! :p

  2. this post is so true !
aslan I don’t watch cinema weekly , I’ll only go to movies that premiere with the US , I don’t go waste a 3KD for an old movie that available on the net ,
I prefer watching movies at home lately
and u r right in every single word u said
    *CLAPPING MY HAND*

    • haha thanks! 🙂

  3. i’ve boycotted cinescape a very long time ago… i’d rather download a movie and watch it than pay for a butchered version.

and prayer break?? seriously??? what about all the children, foreigners, and some women who don’t/can’t pray??

    • EXACTLY!! Why should THEY suffer?

  4. BIG CLAP TO YOU 🙂 (Y)

I totally agree with what you said and i will really stop going to this shitty cinescape to watch a movie that i can enjoy in HD with an HD home theater system

Thanks for bringing up the subject

WE NEED A COMPETITOR IN THE CINEMA BUSINESS

I HOPE THEY JUST APPLY THE AGE RATINGS HERE IN KUWAIT FOR EVERYTHING

    • yeah apply age ratings and dont censor the movies for gods sake!

      thanks!! 🙂

      • You are Welcome

The age ratings must be applied on everything that is age restricted not only the cinema

      • agreed! 🙂

  5. You took the words straight out of my mouth. And I agree: If we wanted to live in an ultra conservative Islamic society I think we would all voluntarily live in Saudi. The one great thing about Kuwait (so I thought) was its freedom to not feel religiously repressed. It is unfair, like you said, for us expats who are not even Muslim. And no, I cannot just GTFO like many people easily yell out– my husband is Kuwaiti and this will be my home for a looooong time– so that’s not the solution or the answer to all of this. Age ratings should be implemented ASAP as well– though I don’t see this happening. I feel as if Kuwait continues to go backwards more and more everyday… Soon they’ll be blocking download sites as well… I would not be one bit surprised…

    • That’s how sad Kuwait has got to be! As you said were gig backwards!!

Hopefully the next generation (us bloggers and hip people ;p) will bring Kuwait back to what it should be!

And if they ever blocked your download site contact me and I’ll provide you with another site .. god bless the Americans :p

      • Oh, I’ll DEFINITELY take you up on that offer! Thanks so much! 🙂
