Hamleys racist?

This pic was taken from the Hamleys in Dubai Mall, we can clearly see that the darker doll is priced at 95 dirhams whereas the white doll is priced at 139 dirhams.

The two dolls are the same sizes .. tsk tsk .. racist hamleys!

Thanks Naser 😉

    • yeah indeed LOL 😛

      thanks for passing by 🙂

  2. 🙂

They’ve made a huge mistake opening this store at Dubai Mall… When I went there, the staff were standing around – one guy picking his nose and two others chatting. I get better service from a toys-r-us in somewhere horrible like Woking (Surrey UK).

The difference between the London store and the one in Dubai is like… well… black and white… If only they applied te above pricing policy across all their products… now that would be something…

    • lol, I’ve not been inside the store in Dubai .. but the London store is WOW .. u MUST buy something from there due to all the side-shows and demostrations .. great marketing they have!

      • Guys, this is Amir from Hamleys Dubai and just to make things clear here, yes both of them have the same size but the price difference is because they have different functions and has nothing to do with the color of the doll!!
the expensive doll is simply because it has a sound and it actually speaks out when you press its hand,,, the other cheaper one is just a soft toy with no functions!!!
hope things are clear now for everybody!!!
if you have any questions i will be glad to help out…

      • Hey thanks for the clear explanation, highly appreciated 😉

  3. Well well!

I think I might be able to clear this one up.

I previously worked in the toy buying office for a large retailer and whilst there learnt that Colour does seem to matter when it comes to toys.

I worked un the UK where it was cheaper to buy a white doll than an ethnic doll. This was due to the volumes the supplier produced as white dolls in the UK were more popular.

I think this is simply the UK market in reverse.

Supply and demand, each goes hand in hand

    • well thanks for the explanation .. i think i understand .. but isnt that considered racism? :/
